St. Patrick's Day 2022

My Irish tweed hat and I both wish you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day.

(FYI: I bought this hat ages ago from a Cabella's catalogue not because it was an Irish "walking hat," but because it was a dead ringer for the hat worn by Walter Matthau in The Taking of Pelham 123. And having just recently watched that most excellent '70s movie again while reading the novel it was based on? Nope, don't regret the purchase at all.)

St. Patrick's Day 2021

Scenes from various past St. Patrick's Days. Hope your day is a lovely celebration of all things Irish.

Cabbage roll and pork chop, both from Rich's Deli. Sure, it's a Ukrainian deli, but still...a cabbage roll on St. Patrick's Day seems appropriate. And a pork chop? Seems appropriate any time. (Unless you're the pig in question, in which case...yes, well.)

On the Way to Work This Morning 3/17/15

In honor of the day, I wore the Irish walking cap I used to wear back in my college days. Dad had one exactly like it, but didn't wear it nearly as often. It's in much better shape than mine, but unfortunately is a size too small for my melon.

I found Maggie here face down in a toy bin at the neighborhood second hand store. That didn't seem like a very dignified position for such a lovely lady, particularly because she was decked out in emerald green so close to St. Patrick's Day. So I rescued her and put her in my living room window as my holiday display.
