At Lunch Today 4/10/15

I'm working a full day today, so I went out for lunch. After the shitastic weather we've had of late--including violent thunderstorms and several tornadoes in the far western 'burbs yesterday--it was nice to see a clear, blue sky, if only for a few minutes.

At Lunch Today 11/26/13

Christkindlmarket Chicago is open for business, no doubt to capitalize on the tree-lighting ceremony later today. This year's collectors' mug is something different--a mini-stein, rather than a boot (as the market has used for much of the last decade) or a standard mug. The design is well in line with what has come before, though. and the Winter Queen who usually appears somewhere in said design never fails to remind me of my late friend, Kaytee, who was, as I recall, quite a fan of the holiday.

At Lunch Today

Why was this frozen strawberry on the frozen sidewalk? Why not?

Today for Lunch

Poor PBJ sammich. The blueberry jam was more like blueberry syrup, so the bread looks like it's been beaten with a tire iron.

The stack of tickets pictured above is sitting on a counter in the lunchroom.

At Lunch Today...

The fountains in Daley Center Plaza run orange in tribute to Halloween. I used to have an apartment that ran orange from the faucets. That was less festive.

Today at Lunch

Daley Center has a plaza, and the plaza has a farmers' market every Thursday. That's where I bought this yummy, yummy baked cheese.

Today for Lunch...

Most days, I scoot out for lunch around 11 a.m. to beat the usual crowd that storms out at noon (and to avoid getting trapped at my job and thus possibly not eating lunch until late in the afternoon, if at all).

Today, there was no need to go out. One of our managers had a birthday, and we celebrated by bringing her food, including: Chilaquiles made with chorizo, fresh-made tortilla chips and cheese... Homemade mac and cheese... And your choice of dips (with chips lingering in the background.

Yum. Yum. And? Yum.

Today at Lunch

While out gathering moneys from the bank (it being payday and all) and a hot turkey sandwich from Jaffa, I walked through fog that seemed to be thickening rather than dissipating as predicted. Throw in a chilly, surprisingly stiff breeze off the lake, and this is not a day on which I'd want to try to hit a 90mph fastball. (Like I could hit one if it were clear and 75.)

Today for Lunch...

The PB&Js of Practicality. (Not nearly as bad as the Minestrone Soup of Misery, the Pineapples of Poverty or, worst of all, the Bologna Sandwiches of Woe, but not nearly as good as a couple of wieners from America's dog, either.)
