The construction of the Germanic village for in Daley Center Plaza for
Christkindlmarket continues apace, and the tree, donated by a family in Prospect Heights, is already in its place.
I must say that this year's tree is a substantial improvement over the trees from the past couple of years, which looked like they could benefit from being swaddled in Linus's blue blanket. This year's tree appears lush and full, and it looks like the city workers in their cherry pickers are actually stringing lights on the tree this year, as opposed to last year, when they draped cheap-looking vertical strands that did nothing to hide the sparsity of branches beneath.
Okay, that's more like what the Daley Plaza Christmas tree should look like. I'm pleased after being very disappointed the last two years. I hope to visit Christkindlmarket this year and make a few purchases.
ReplyDeleteThe fabulous number 36 rumbled me past there yesterday afternoon, and I too was impressed by the wonderful tree and the developing village. I'm sure that spirits will be raised as the lights decorate the tree and are lit.
ReplyDeleteWe three should meet in the Christkindlmarket village and hoist some mulled wine in festive, boot-shaped mugs!
ReplyDeleteThat, lad, is a jolly good idea!
