Shocktober Song

The locust trees in Seward Park
are mostly golden now.
Sharp, small leaves are spinning down
from nearly every bough.
Shadows stretch and often catch
a passer-by in fear.
The sun slides down. The dark swirls 'round.
Beware! Shocktober's here.
