It's Too Damn Early

I love Halloween. It's my favorite holiday. I decorate La Casa del Terror for the season. I watch horror films. I do everything except Trick or Treat.

But did I think it was right to see Halloween decorations--candy bowls and votive holders and ornaments for Halloween trees--on prominent display in the Hallmark store I passed on the way to the job this morning?

No. I did not.

Retailers' habit of displaying holiday merchandise months in advance always annoys me. I understand it from the their p.o.v, but...jeez! Halloween is an autumnal holiday, so seeing those displays when it's 88 humid degrees outside makes me throw up mu hands. I just don't want to see all that stuff before the holiday mood hits me. So, okay I won't look. Well...maybe I'll look for some pumpkin, or skeleton or witch streamer lights because they're usually sold out by time Halloween gets into my blood. But that's all!

If you can't buy actual pumpkins yet then yes, it's too damn early.

I love Halloween. Autumn is my favorite time of year, but I think it's a bit too early to bring out the 'ween stuff.
